You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. About the role
You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager or Assistant Manager and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The role requires familiarity with plasma collection regulations and support of environmental, health and safety (EHS) activities.
Howyou will contribute
- Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, medical history interview, and acceptance requirements.
- Perform physical examinations, blood testing, and review serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including communication with the Center Physician.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical issues.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health/ER.
- Coordinate pandemic response as authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Licensed or certified nurse (RN, NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of assignment.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Complete the FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
