SAP ABAP HANA – Consultant

The SAP ABAP on HANA Consultant will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering robust and scalable solutions within SAP S/4

HANA environments. The role requires strong proficiency in ABAP on HANA, with a deep understanding of SAP data models, performance tuning, and modern development paradigms such as Core Data Services (CDS), RAP, and Fiori integration. A consultant at this level is expected to independently handle technical objects, collaborate with functional teams, and ensure that deliverables meet performance, scalability, and quality standards.

• Participate in requirement analysis, technical design, and detailed specification preparation in collaboration with business and functional teams.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain custom programs, interfaces, enhancements, workflows, and forms using ABAP on HANA best practices.
• Build and optimize CDS Views, AMDP, and OData Services for Fiori/UI5 applications.
• Implement RAP (Restful ABAP Programming Model) for cloud-ready extensions and applications.
• Integrate ABAP developments with SAP Fiori apps, Gateway Services, and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
• Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and peer walkthroughs to ensure adherence to SAP Clean Core principles.
• Optimize legacy ABAP programs to leverage HANA database capabilities and enhance runtime efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and debug performance or functional issues across SAP modules.
• Provide technical documentation, user guides, and support during UAT and go-live phases.
• Work closely with functional teams (FI/CO, SD, MM, PP) for issue resolution and solution deployment.

A 7-year experienced consultant is expected to possess solid working knowledge in:

• ABAP on HANA concepts:
  Open SQL, Code Pushdown, CDS Views, AMDP, HANA Views.
• Core ABAP:
  Reports, Smart Forms, Interfaces, Enhancements, BDCs, and Function Modules.
• OData / Gateway:
  Creation, consumption, and debugging of OData services.
• RAP / CAP:
  Experience in building cloud-ready applications on S/4
  
  HANA or BTP.
• Adobe and Smart Forms:
  Dynamic form creation and printing solutions.
• Performance Tuning: SQL Trace (ST05), Runtime Analysis (SAT), Code Inspector (SCI).
• Version control tools: GCTS / Git integration in SAP BAS (advantage).
• Transport management and adherence to SAP Dev Ops standards.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work in agile, global delivery environments.
• Exposure to client interaction and solution walkthroughs.
• Capable of mentoring junior developers.

ABAP on HANA, CDS Views, OData Services, RAP, Adobe Forms, Performance tuning, Extensibility, and S/4

HANA integration.

SAP BTP, Fiori/UI5 Extensions, On-Premise & Cloud ABAP Environments, Experience with clean-core extension approach and GCTS.

SAP Certified Development Associate – ABAP for SAP HANA
Tools:
