The Quality Lab Technician works closely with Manufacturing and customers to ensure all products meet or exceed quality expectations and regulatory standards.

Location: Roanoke, VA
Type: Contract to hire
Shift: 2nd Shift: Thursday - Monday; 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM ( $20 - $23/hr )

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform testing on bulk and finished products (pH, viscosity, odor, color, appearance).
  • Prepare dye percent-solution formulas and provide proper batch‑coloring specifications to Compounders.
  • Issue NCMRs (Nonconformance Reports) for rejected samples or non‑conforming materials; notify Customer Service and customers as required.
  • Generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for bulk product shipments.
  • Retest bulk materials as needed and update product status in AS400; document all nonconformances.
  • Maintain product standards, retains, and reference samples.
  • Enforce cGMPs, company policies, and safety requirements at all times.
  • Maintain, clean, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Complete annual recertification as a “Certified Nose” and “Certified Color Vision” tester.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Chemistry Degree Preferred — Fresh Graduates Encouraged to Apply!
  • Degreed
    • B.S. in Chemistry (or related cosmetic, pharmaceutical, QA/QC field) — No experience required
  • Not Degreed
    • A.S. degree in chemistry or related field — 1 year of lab experience required
    • High School Diploma/GED — 3–5 years of lab experience in cosmetic, pharma, or QC required
Additional Skills
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
  • Proficient with counting scales, RF scanners, Microsoft Office, AS400, SAP, Interspec, QCBD.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and willingness to train others.
  • Demonstrated safe work behavior and reliability.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime and weekends as needed.
