Hourly Rater: $20.50 per hour.
Shift

Schedule:

Working hours Monday - Thursday; 10-hour shift. Overtime as needed.

Job Purpose

As Quality Technical, you will coordinate the collection of random samples from production batches/lots. Perform a wide variety of complex testing processes to measure product’s physical characteristics. Use highly sophisticated and precise testing instruments. Under instruction and following established procedures and guidelines, test and conduct routine analysis of in-process and finished product batches using variety of testing devices and procedures to maintain product quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Must follow all established safety rules and procedures
  • Must demonstrate integrity while performing duties as per company’s Code of Conduct
  • Perform a wide variety of complex testing processes on production batches to measure product’s physical or chemical characteristics. Tests include, but are not limited to, viscosity, weight per unit of measure, flow, gloss, color characteristics (compared with standards), and various other similar tests.
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment
  • Maintain records and charts for all products that are checked by the individual.
  • Record and report observations or test results in the appropriate QC card or file. The data should be complete and written legibly
  • Work with the QC manager, production staff, and development staff to evaluate production or field related problems
  • Help identify potential causes of complaints
  • Actively engaged in 5S activities
  • Helps sustain and improve organization in work areas
  • Perform area housekeeping responsibilities
Job Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • With 1-2 years technical or community college courses with emphasis on physical science and/or 3 or more years manufacturing experience in paint and coatings industry preferred
  • Previous laboratory experience preferred
  • Microsoft Office skills required (Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • Near vision- ability to read labels and see details up close with or without corrective lenses
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow safety instructions and safety guidelines
  • Must be able to score a 32 or lower on a Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Color test
  • Must have effective interpersonal skills

  • Ability to multi-task and balance priorities
  • Dedicated and committed safety leadership and presence
  • Ability to work in a heavy manufacturing environment with exposure to chemical agents
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time

    - Knowledge of basic math including adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, fractions and measurements
  • Operation Monitoring
    - Ability to watch gauges, dials, or display screens to ensure proper operation of equipment
