Job Description & How to Apply Below

Do you love design tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment while partnering with production teams to improve safety, quality, and efficiency? If you enjoy creating practical engineering solutions, working closely with manufacturing teams, and seeing your designs make a measurable impact on product, then this is the perfect opportunity for you!

Build the Equipment That Builds the Product

Our client is a well-established manufacturer of highly engineered products used in demanding transportation and industrial applications. Their products are trusted in environments where safety, reliability, and performance are critical.

As the organization continues to grow and invest in operational excellence, they are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer – Tooling & Equipment Design to support production through the development of tooling, fixtures, manufacturing equipment, and process improvements.

This is not a traditional Manufacturing Engineer role focused solely on process documentation or lean initiatives. This position is ideal for a mechanically minded engineer who enjoys designing solutions, improving manufacturing processes, working directly with production teams, and seeing their ideas implemented on the shop floor.

What You'll Do
  • Design and develop tooling, fixtures, assembly aids, machine modifications, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Support manufacturing operations by identifying and implementing improvements that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and supporting documentation.
  • Partner closely with production, quality, engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to solve manufacturing challenges.
  • Lead projects involving equipment upgrades, process improvements, and new manufacturing technologies.
  • Support fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, and testing operations.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost justification analyses, and project planning activities.
  • Manage projects from concept through implementation while maintaining schedules and budgets.
  • Help establish and maintain manufacturing engineering documentation, drawing standards, and PDM systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on reducing waste, improving throughput, and increasing manufacturing effectiveness.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience designing tooling, fixtures, manufacturing equipment, or production support systems.
  • Strong 3D CAD experience (Solid Works preferred, Creo experience also considered).
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment supporting production teams.
  • Understanding of fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, and manufacturing processes.
  • Hands-on problem-solving mindset and ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently.
Preferred Experience
  • 5 - 7 years of Machine design or manufacturing equipment design.
  • PDM, document control, or engineering drawing management experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, 5S, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • CNC machining, metal fabrication, welding, or industrial assembly environments.
  • Exposure to automation, robotics, controls, PLCs, sensors, or LabVIEW.
  • Experience in heavy manufacturing, heavy equipment, machinery, transportation, industrial products, shipbuilding, fabrication, or similar industries.
Why This Opportunity?
  • Design real-world solutions that directly impact manufacturing operations.
  • Own projects from concept through implementation.
  • Work on highly visible initiatives that improve production efficiency and product quality.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineering and operations teams.
  • Opportunity to influence manufacturing standards, tooling strategies, and process improvements.
  • Stable, growing organization with long-term career opportunities.

Health Benefits start on the 1st day of employment; 401 (k) and unlimited PTO are also available.

Our client is not able to support Visas at this time or in the future. Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or valid permanent residents (Green Card holders).

We will consider relocation assistance for the right candidate.
