Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for an ICU/PCU Float position requiring experience in large Level 1 or 2 facilities and comfort working in all ICU and PCU units.

• Work in ICU and PCU units within a hospital setting
• Patient ratios are 2:1 in ICU and 5:1 in PCU
• Night shifts with scheduled hours from 6:45 pm to 7:15 am, three 12-hour shifts weekly with the option for four 12-hour shifts on request
• Frequent floating required, potentially 2-3 times per shift across ICU and PCU units
• Utilizes the EPIC charting system, prior experience required
• Weekend requirement is every other weekend or six weekend shifts per six-week block
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Primary duties include managing critical care patients in both ICU and PCU settings
• May administer and titrate emergency and cardiac/vasoactive medications
• Must be comfortable with frequent floating between units based on staffing needs
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Holiday coverage required for one holiday per 13-week contract
• Applicants must provide two references for consideration
• All requested time off must be disclosed with application
• Dress code requirements will be communicated by the hospital
• Locals are accepted per facility radius rules

• Active VA or compact RN license; pending license considered if from a non-compact state
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• IV therapy skills including arterial line management, central/PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Proficiency in BiPAP & CPAP management, ventilator patient care, and continuous IV sedation
• Ability to provide wound care for surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs
• Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience adhering to IV insulin protocols
• ICU experience required, preferably 2+ years
• Recent experience in large Level 1 or 2 facility required
• EPIC documentation system experience required
