Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro Specialty Unit for a top healthcare client in Roanoke, VA
.
This position offers an opportunity to join a specialized neuro step-down unit that cares for patients with complex neurological conditions such as ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizure disorders, brain tumors, and neuromuscular diseases. The RN will deliver comprehensive, compassionate care while utilizing advanced neurological monitoring and collaborating closely with neurology, neurosurgery, and rehabilitation teams to ensure optimal recovery and outcomes.
Job Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to individuals recovering from neurological events or undergoing evaluation for chronic neurological conditions.
- Conduct thorough neurological assessments, monitor changes in patient condition, and document findings accurately in EPIC EMR
. - Administer medications, manage IV therapies, and coordinate care for patients requiring specialized neuro interventions.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and families about neurological diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning.
- Maintain adherence to safety protocols, infection control measures, and hospital quality standards.
- Contribute to ongoing education and mentorship of peers and students within the department.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or approved program eligible for Virginia licensure.
- Previous experience in neurology, step-down, or critical care preferred but not required.
- Virginia RN license (or eligibility).
- CPR certification required;
ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required as applicable within one year of hire.
- Strong neurological assessment and patient observation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in EPIC electronic medical records and evidence-based nursing practices.
