Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is hiring a Med Surg/Inpatient Rehab RN for a 13-week night shift contract requiring an active VA or Compact RN license and Med Surg/Rehab experience.

• Active Virginia State or Compact RN license required; single-state license from a non-compact state accepted only if pending
• BLS certification required
• CRRN certification preferred
• CPI Blue certification highly preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience in Med Surg and Rehab settings required
• Skilled in peripheral line care/management, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration and tanks, and isolation precautions
• Charge nurse experience preferred

• 33-bed adult Med Surg unit (no telemetry) within an inpatient rehab/med surg setting
• Patient ratios of 1:6, may flex up to 1:7
• Common patient diagnoses include SCVA, SCI, TBI, amputee, and multi-trauma cases
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7p-7a
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling block
• Required to float to nearby facility med surg units (11W, 10W, 9W, and 5W) as needed
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Provide direct patient care including cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Perform IV therapy and phlebotomy as part of patient care duties
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract, with 2 holidays required during winter holiday periods (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day)
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 100 miles of the facility are not accepted, with limited exceptions for those living 50-99.9 miles away for a single 13-week assignment with no extension eligibility
• Previous employees must have a minimum one-year break before returning as a traveler
• Facility does not allow travelers to return after having worked 365 days on assignment, regardless of separation period, with case-by-case exceptions reviewed by leadership
