American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Level I Trauma teaching hospital requiring Epic experience and an active VA or compact RN license.

• Adult acute care Medical Surgical unit treating elective back surgeries, trauma, prostate cancer, gallbladder issues, and cellulitis
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 6:45am-7:15pm
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week block
• Floating required within skillset
• May be required to work as charge nurse and to precept
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract (two holidays required during winter holiday period)

• Active VA State or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Proficient in Med/Surg care including use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Skilled in peripheral line care/management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and oxygen tank use
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE required
• Charge experience preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred

• Work in a Level I Trauma Center (adult and pediatric) at a Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital
• Provide direct patient care including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Facility is affiliated with multiple medical schools and recognized for nursing excellence
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted; distance from facility may affect assignment eligibility and duration
• Previous employees (per diem or permanent) must have a separation period of at least one year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers who have worked 365 days on assignment are not eligible to return, with exceptions reviewed case-by-case
