Family Dollar – Assistant Manager II

Location:

1626 Orange Ave NW, Roanoke, VA 24017

Responsibilities
  • Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities
  • Provide positive, approachable customer service and resolve inquiries
  • Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas
  • Perform opening and closing procedures
  • Process corporate directives (Pull/ Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey, etc.)
  • Maintain promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays
  • Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits/receipts), and loss prevention
  • Keep store areas well-stocked, organized, and to company standards
  • Protect and secure company assets, including cash
  • Enforce safety guidelines and company policies among associates
  • Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop store associates
  • Maintain a safe, respectful environment with professional, friendly interactions
  • Ensure cleanliness of store, including bathrooms, floors, trash, and overall presentability
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives
  • Preferred experience in retail, grocery, or drug store management
  • Physical capability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills
  • Ability to thrive in a high‑energy team environment
  • Exceptional customer service and organizational skills
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities
