Our client is seeking a strategic and commercially-minded Sports Merchandise Manager to lead their retail operations and product strategy in East London. This role is pivotal in driving sales, managing inventory, and curating a compelling range of sports apparel and equipment to meet customer demand within the thriving Leisure & Sports market. You will be responsible for sourcing, merchandising, and promoting products, ensuring profitability and brand alignment, and enhancing the overall shopping experience for sports enthusiasts.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute the overall merchandise strategy, including product selection, pricing, and promotional activities for sports-related goods.
- Manage inventory levels effectively, ensuring optimal stock rotation, minimizing markdowns, and preventing stockouts.
- Source and build relationships with suppliers and manufacturers, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring product quality.
- Oversee the visual merchandising and presentation of products in retail spaces to maximize sales appeal and customer engagement.
- Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for product expansion and sales growth.
- Manage the retail team, providing training, setting performance goals, and ensuring excellent customer service standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in merchandise management or retail management, preferably within the Leisure & Sports industry.
- Proven track record in sales generation, inventory management, and visual merchandising.
- Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Excellent understanding of retail operations, consumer behavior, and market trends in the sports sector.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with excellent communication and analytical skills.
