As a Security Officer - Tech Campus Patrol in Roanoke, VA
, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal in a leading tech and media environment, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas to help maintain a secure atmosphere for clients and visitors. Your role involves conducting routine patrols, remaining visible to help deter security-related incidents, and delivering outstanding customer service.

You will interact professionally with staff and guests, respond to security-related situations, and utilize technology such as computers or tablets as part of your daily responsibilities. Join a team that values agility, reliability, and people-first service while making a real impact every day.

What You ll Do
  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, following site-specific policies, and when appropriate, participating in emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, using good judgment.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business premises and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity; working environments and conditions may vary by location within the tech, media, and telecom sector.
  • Observe and report any suspicious activity or security-related incidents encountered during patrols.
  • Maintain clear and accurate logs or reports of daily activities and incidents as required by site procedures.
  • Collaborate with site personnel and/or local law enforcement as directed, supporting a secure environment.
  • Assist with access control measures by monitoring entry and exit points as needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • A valid guard card or license is preferred.
  • Experience with access control or badge systems is preferred.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
