Campus Police Officer (Full-Time)

Virginia Western Community College is seeking a full‑time Campus Police Officer to protect the campus and surrounding community. The position requires 12‑hour rotating shifts, foot and vehicle patrols, and enforcement of college policies.

• Provide professional and courteous response to all incidents on campus and surrounding streets.
• Conduct daily foot and vehicle patrols of campus property.
• Secure buildings and enforce college policies and regulations.
• Direct and control traffic; promote compliance with parking and traffic regulations.
• Investigate vehicular accidents, thefts, and other incidents.
• Transport funds to and from area bank and report campus conditions during inclement weather.
• Perform additional duties as assigned and support emergency response as directed by the Governor.

• Unexpired Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Law Enforcement Officer certification.
• Valid Virginia driver’s license.
• Experience providing oral and written instructions, and writing reports.
• Knowledge of public safety laws and regulations.
• Ability to work all 12‑hour shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and rotating schedules.
• Physical ability to carry equipment and perform foot & vehicle patrols.
• Background check, physical exam, and drug test required.

• Competitive salary: $50,000 – $52,000.
