Job Summary
Responsible for reading blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: location, quantities, and sizes of materials required. Identify all tools required for tasks and identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- The Technician I – Infrastructure measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit using rules, conduit benders, Chicago Benders, dual-trigger bandsaws.
- Builds closets (mounts and installs backboards) and installs grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required.
- Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
- Fabrics and installs rigid & aluminum, E.M.T., plasti-bond, and PVC conduit.
- Uses mechanical benders and hydraulic benders (1 1/2” – 4”) and fabricates and installs conduit supports.
- Installs various types of raceway and cable tray systems.
- Assumes responsibility for effective performance of crew, provides necessary training, coordinates personnel and timeline to complete the project.
- Fully completes all IES paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, and others as required).
- Adheres to and participates in all company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
- Completes other responsibilities as assigned.
USD $21.00 / hour (minimum) – USD $25.00 / hour (maximum).
Qualifications Physical and Mental Requirements- Self‑motivated, positive in approach, professional, and helps create, develop and implement project process improvements.
- Accustomed to climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions.
- Promotes company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
- Acts as the company liaison for interface with customer representatives.
- Possesses proven problem‑solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentations.
- Can work at heights, off a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
- Can travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
- Regular attendance is mandatory.
- Screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight, and gloves.
- Must possess at least a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Must have 0–2 years of experience as an electrician or related technical field and demonstrate the ability to supervise others.
- Must possess and be proficient with the listed tools.
- Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including and not limited to specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
- Must know the universal communications color codes.
