Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long‑term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. The LPN demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge. The role requires competence in utilizing age and population‑specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident, performing diagnostic testing, administering medications and treatments, responding to emergencies, documenting resident interactions and outcomes, and communicating effectively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.

The LPN also provides technical support to healthcare professionals as needed, counsels residents and families on prevention and treatment plans, and performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse; associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
  • Must have attended a pre‑licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the lifespan or have a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility.
  • Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with the State Nursing Board and/or possesses multi‑state licensure privileges.
  • Must obtain and maintain required department‑specific competencies, certifications, and annual continuing education units (CEU). If IV therapy/management skills are required, completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing is mandatory.
