Certified Nursing Assistant, PM (Robertsdale)

AltaPointe’s Adult Residential Services provide comprehensive care and treatment to more than 200 adults with serious and persistent mental illness. Residential care focuses on rehabilitation and community placement through 24‑hour supervised group homes.
Responsibilities- Provides ongoing monitoring and interaction with consumers to include training on basic living skills (BLS) according to assessed needs, providing psycho educational services, and implementation of behavioral plans if applicable.
- Meets daily productivity standards through individual and group BLS and psycho educational services.
- Ongoing compliance with Nurse Delegation Program, including recertification requirements.
- Uses the MAS‑MAC connection to receive delegation of care for consumers in assigned program to include assistance with medication administration.
- Assists consumers with personal care issues (bathing, toileting, and other personal hygiene issues), medication use, chores, and safety issues.
- Prepares consumer meals according to consumer’s individualized dietary orders, posted menus, and is responsible for stocking food and household items.
- Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and takes a proactive approach to deescalate or resolve the situation.
- Ensures adherence to the posted household schedule, individual appointments, and implements planned activities.
- Transports consumers to and from appointments/outings.
- Models appropriate behavior including communication skills, grooming, manners, etc.
- Works with consumers and staff to ensure house cleanliness.
- Performs hand‑off communication at shift change and effectively collaborates with the treatment team members.
- Complies with routine health and safety tasks for both house and vehicles.
- Seeks supervision and consultation as needed.
- Accepts and employs suggestions for improvement.
- Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Demonstrates the willingness to work at any ARS facility based on staffing needs.
- Documents in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy.
- Documents in a legible manner and on a progress note the types of consumer services provided.
- Documents detailed BLS and psycho educational services provided, individualized consumer responses, and progress toward goals.
- Actively participates in Performance Improvement activities.
- Actively participates in AltaPointe committees as required.
- Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Follows AltaPointe policies and procedures.
- Attends appropriate in‑services training and other workshops.
- Any other duties that are assigned by supervisor or designee.
- Frequent to constant standing while organizing/stocking groceries.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for Activities of Daily Living, including lifts from floor to waist.
- Extended sitting up to 1.5 hours for documentation and 1 hour for group time.
- Walking various distances on grounds, up to 300 feet.
- Squatting/lunging frequently to stock/organize groceries/supplies, retrieve pots/pans, and lift pans out of the oven.
- Strong grasp needed to handle groceries/supplies when lifting and cooking.
- Fine manipulation for writing and handling paperwork.
- Applying 5‑pound horizontal force to open standing freezer doors to access groceries.
- Lifting various ranges from floor to overhead (5‑15 pounds), 30‑40 pounds from floor to 48 inches, and 50 pounds from floor to waist 1–2 times per day.
- Occasional mopping, sweeping, bed making, laundry for consumers.
- Any other duties assigned by supervisor.
High school diploma or equivalent. Current Certified Nursing Assistant in Alabama. Valid driver’s license. Must be 23 years of age or older and have proof of current liability insurance. Effectively demonstrate application of adult‑specific competencies.
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in the adult population.
- Knowledge of cultural diversity.
- Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention, and interventions common to acute psychotic consumers, and non‑violent crisis intervention practices.
- Knowledge of educational methods for adults with severe and persistent psychiatric disorders.
- Knowledge of utilizing the electronic health record.
- Successful completion of Medication Assistance Certification (MAC).
- Successful completion of Defensive Driving program.
- Successful completion of specialized Relias Training Plans.
