• High school diploma or equivalent. (Required)
• 2‑year associate degree or two years of college‑level coursework in a related field. (Preferred)

• First aid, CPR, Emergency behavior intervention

• 1‑year employment experience in child welfare or related field. (Required)
• 2+ years of related experience. (Preferred)

• Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines applicable to this position.
• Document all serious incidents and daily progress in compliance with agency policies.
• Assist with orientation of new children and staff.
• Provide input into development of treatment plans as appropriate or requested.
• Use positive child management techniques including verbal redirection, de‑escalation, and containment.
• Plan, organize, and supervise activities for children according to daily schedule.
• Teach constructive behavior and social skills, realistic problem solving, responsible time and money management, conversational English, personal hygiene, and life skills.
• Assist children with homework assignments.
• Maintain an orderly and clean children’s living area, assist with household and laundry chores, identify routine maintenance, and report to Unit Manager.
• Maintain and update records of children’s clothing and personal items.
• Maintain a secure campus environment through regular rounds and proper radio communication protocols.
• Promote positive interaction and responsibility among children.
• Model culturally and socially desired behaviors and explain them to children.
• Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Implement safety protocols including emergency evacuations.
• Maintain confidentiality in all areas of child and program operations.
• Maintain professional and ethical standards; comply with dress code.

• Provide sustained, uninterrupted direct supervision from shift start to relief.
• Follow medical staff instructions and inform Unit Manager of health issues.
• Communicate positively and respectfully with children, families, and staff.
• Traverse between facility areas to supervise children.
• Communicate behavioral expectations and enforce compliance.
• Complete required documentation before shift end.
• Meet deadlines set by program supervisor and federal partners.

• Pass pre‑employment drug screen and random drug screens.
• Provide proof of work eligibility.
• Pass pre‑employment and biennial criminal background checks.
• Demonstrate ability to:
• Respond sensitively to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
• Work collaboratively with staff and service providers.
• Provide crisis intervention per training.
• Work in fast‑paced environment maintaining emotional control.
• Be computer literate for job responsibilities.
• Work independently and as part of multidisciplinary team.
• Have knowledge of Compass Connections policies and procedures.
