BUILDING INSPECTOR
Pay: $25.35
Position Summary:Under direct supervision of the Building Official, the Building Inspector will assist in the inspections of new and remodeled residential and/or commercial buildings to ensure compliance with the City building codes, ordinances, and inspection processes.
Duties and Responsibilities- Coordinates inspections with contractors and advises citizens and contractors of building procedures and City policies,
- Performs residential and light commercial building, mechanical, electrical and plumbing inspections to ensure that new construction, alterations, and repairs comply with building codes, ordinances, zoning regulations, and contract specifications,
- Monitors the status of construction inspection activities and keeps track of permits issued,
- Notifies the construction contractor, superintendent, or supervisor when violations of building codes or ordinances are identified,
- May be asked to perform other duties as required.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED),
- Two (2) to ten (10) years related experience and/or training,
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License,
- Consideration will be given to those with considerable construction trades work, Journeyman's plumbing or electrical license,
- Master electrician license, State of Texas Plumbing Inspector License, HVAC, etc., preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 75 pounds.
