Quantity Surveyor (QSRochMH) Rochdale, England Quantity Surveyor – Social Housing Refurbishment About the Company

Our client is an established construction and refurbishment contractor specialising in the delivery of high-quality refurbishment and maintenance projects across the North West.

The business works extensively within the social housing sector, delivering refurbishment and improvement programmes for housing providers and local authorities. With a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and collaborative project delivery, they have developed long-term relationships with clients across the region.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Rochdale.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of social housing refurbishment projects from pre-construction through to final account.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the commercial performance of allocated refurbishment projects
  • Preparing and monitoring CVRs, forecasts, and cost reports
  • Managing subcontract procurement and subcontractor accounts
  • Preparing valuations, applications for payment, variations, and final accounts
  • Monitoring project costs and identifying commercial risks and opportunities
  • Working closely with Contracts Managers, Project Managers, and site teams
  • Reviewing contractual requirements and ensuring commercial compliance
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners
  • Supporting the successful delivery of social housing refurbishment programmes
The Ideal Candidate

The successful Quantity Surveyor will have:

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction
  • Social housing refurbishment experience is highly desirable
  • Experience working on refurbishment, maintenance, or planned works programmes
  • Strong knowledge of cost control, forecasting, valuations, and final accounts
  • Experience managing subcontractor accounts and procurement
  • Good understanding of construction contracts
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities
  • Good Microsoft Excel and IT skills
  • Relevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification
