Role OverviewThe Governing Body at Springside Special School is seeking two enthusiastic and experienced Teaching Assistants Level 1+. You will work directly with pupils who have complex additional educational needs across all phases from Nursery to Year 6, across all Springside sites as required. The role is temporary and offers an opportunity to support learners’ development within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support learners in a variety of learning activities, encouraging participation throughout the school day.
- Provide reassurance, encouragement and practical support to help learners feel safe, happy and ready to learn.
- Promote positive engagement and contribute to an environment where every child feels valued and included.
- Work across any of the Springside sites, collaborating with experienced colleagues and supporting professional development.
- Assist with safeguarding and welfare responsibilities, adhering to the school’s safeguarding policy.
- GCSE English and Maths at grade A*‑C, or GCSE level 4‑9, or a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy (or equivalent).
- Level 2 qualification in Teaching and Learning (QCF, NVQ prior to 2010 or equivalent), or willingness to work towards one.
- Ability to converse at ease in accurate spoken English.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Acceptance of an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and background check.
- Declares no immigration restrictions preventing work in the UK and can supply Right to Work evidence if invited for an interview.
This is a temporary contract, pending a review of the school’s staffing structure. The school will carry out an online background search in line with the Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023 guidance. The application process will involve submission of supporting documents and interview with the Governing Body.
