Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for the next step in your education career? We are currently seeking a confident and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a school in Rochdale from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced education professional who is passionate about supporting pupils’ learning, leading interventions and making a positive impact within the classroom. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to deliver high-quality support, take responsibility for small group sessions and provide cover when required.

As a HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting pupils across the school, helping to raise attainment and promote positive learning experiences. You will be confident working with a range of abilities, including pupils with additional needs, and be able to adapt your approach to meet individual learning and emotional needs.

The successful Higher Level Teaching Assistant will have:
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or within an educational setting
  • Experience delivering small group interventions and supporting individual pupils
  • Confidence leading activities and supporting lessons in the absence of the class teacher
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child development
  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
  • A calm, patient and encouraging approach
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN is desirable
The role will involve:
  • Supporting teaching and learning across the classroom
  • Delivering targeted interventions and booster sessions
  • Supporting pupils with additional learning needs
  • Providing feedback on pupil progress and engagement
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
  • Supporting classroom management and creating an inclusive learning environment
