School Family Support Worker

Join our Inclusion Team

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our ambitious and successful Inclusion Team.

This is a rewarding role at the heart of our school, working closely with children and families to provide early intervention, improve attendance, coordinate Early Help support and remove barriers to learning. Through evidence-based interventions and strong partnerships with families and external agencies, you will help mitigate the impact of disadvantage and ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

We are looking for someone who is approachable, empathetic and skilled in engaging families from diverse backgrounds. If you are passionate about improving outcomes for children and empowering families, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Improve pupil attendance and work proactively with families to identify and overcome barriers to education.
  • Lead and coordinate Early Help Assessments and plans, acting as Lead Professional to ensure effective support for children and families.
  • Develop, implement and review effective support plans to improve outcomes for children and families.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families and carers through early intervention, support and home visits.
  • Deliver evidence-based one-to-one and small group interventions to support pupils' emotional wellbeing, engagement, attendance and outcomes
  • Use restorative and trauma-informed approaches to support children and families facing challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff, external agencies and community services to ensure coordinated support and access to appropriate resources.
  • Maintain accurate records, monitor impact and contribute to safeguarding and child-centred practice at all times.

  • Has experience of working with children, young people and families.
  • Has a strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection and Early Help processes.
  • Builds positive relationships and communicates effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Has experience of improving attendance and supporting vulnerable children and families.
  • Understands and applies restorative and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Is resilient, organised and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Is committed to inclusion and achieving the best possible outcomes for all children.
