Working Hours:
Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm, Term time
We're working with a specialist SEND school in Rochdale that supports young people aged 11-19 with a wide range of complex special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and complex communication needs. This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist provision, helping learners build the communication, social and life skills they need to thrive.
About the RoleAs a SEND Engagement & Behaviour Specialist, you'll support learners with complex learning needs, working within a person-centred, holistic approach rather than a traditional curriculum. You'll build consistent, trusted relationships with your learners, adapting your communication to support their needs, and helping them develop confidence, independence and life skills day to day.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a patient, relationship-focused professional who wants to make a genuine, lasting difference to the lives of young people with complex needs.
What We're Looking For- A genuine passion for supporting young people with autism, ADHD or complex learning needs
- Confidence adapting communication style to suit individual learners, including non-verbal and complex communicators
- A calm, patient and consistent approach, with the ability to build trusted relationships quickly
- Emotional and physical resilience, with a person-centred mindset when working with complex needs
- Strong team-working skills and a genuine desire to make a positive, lasting impact
- Relevant qualification desirable
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Have an enhanced DBS certificate already on the update service or be willing to apply for a new one
- Provide two professional references from child-related roles
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
The successful candidate will be required to register and have passed all safeguarding/vetting checks with Prospero Teaching in order to fill this vacancy. Any adult working with children and vulnerable young people are responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of the children and young people.
