Site Engineer – Heywood, OL10 2LG
, Contract 6 months

My client is a leading engineering tier one contractor, that are in the market for a site engineer to work on highways alterations. This is an opportunity to be part of a multi-million pound infrastructure project on our northern motorway.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting directly to the Senior Engineer, ensure construction projects are completed accurately and safely.
  • Undertake delivery operations for a specific discipline (e.g. roadworks) to ensure all elements are delivered safely, to the required quality, on time and within budget, all in line with the scheme design and associated highway specifications and in compliance with the Development Consent Order requirements.
  • The role may involve a mobilisation stage of 3-5 months before c. 3 years of construction starting in June 2026. Post-construction support for handover into operations will also be required.
  • Ensuring that site surveys and records are provided as required.
  • Put safety above all else.
  • Work with project managers, site managers, supervisors and suppliers to coordinate, develop and review safe system compliance and other daily processes.
  • Ensure all on site activities are recorded through daily diaries, production control schedules and photographs.
  • Ensure permits, RAMS, QA documents are in place timely and completed as relevant to your works.
  • Review drawings and raise technical queries relating to the design team.
  • Adopt a Right First-Time approach to quality and avoid rework.
  • Be aware of and work to the short-term programming and sequencing of works aligned to the main Programme.
  • Champion health, safety, sustainability and environment by putting personal safety and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.
  • Achieve the required level of Quality, drive efficiency and continual productivity improvements, creating best practices for the team and adding value for our customers.
Experience – Essential
  • Notable experience delivering infrastructure projects in a site role.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • A positive and proactive attitude.
  • Able to work and learn quickly in a fast paced, fun and dynamic environment.
  • Care about doing a great job and exceeding expectations with the quality of what you do.
Experience – Desirable
  • Experience working on a similar project.
Qualifications – Essential
  • Civil Engineering related qualification (HNC, HND BSc, MSc, BEng, Meng).
  • SMSTS.
Qualifications – Desirable
  • Appointed Person, lifting training is an advantage.
  • Mental Health First Aid.
  • Fire Marshalling.
  • First Aid.
