Job Title: EC&I Design Engineer (Electrical Bias) - Gas & Energy Sector

Location: Rochdale

Salary: £38,000 - £55,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Permanent: 37.5 hours per week (Mon-Thurs: 8:30am-4:30pm, Friday: 8:30am-2:00pm)

Office Based / Hybrid working

Start Date: ASAP

Our client, a leading engineering business within the UK gas industry, is looking to recruit an EC&I Design Engineer with an electrical bias to join their expanding engineering team.

The Role

As an EC&I Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing high-quality electrical and instrumentation designs for projects within hazardous and industrial environments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing EC&I designs for LV, ELV and hazardous area installations
  • Preparing electrical schematics, drawings and design documentation
  • Completing electrical design calculations using software such as AMTECH and Dialux
  • Interpreting client specifications and applicable industry standards
  • Attending occasional local site surveys and project kick-off meetings
  • Supporting HAZOP studies and design reviews
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Mentoring junior engineers where appropriate (senior candidates)
You'll need:
  • 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in EC&I or electrical design
  • Experience designing for hazardous areas (COMPEX 8-12 preferred)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, EPLAN or similar electrical design software
  • Strong analytical, communication and technical documentation skills
Desirable
  • Knowledge of G17, G35 and IEC 60079 standards
  • Previous experience within the gas or energy sector
  • Commissioning or electrical inspection experience
  • IEng or CEng status (or working towards professional registration)
