The Role
You'll be responsible for producing mechanical parts designs and assemblies that meet sales order requirements, while improving reliability, lead time and cost of production. You'll play a key role in ensuring right-first-time designs, supporting on-time delivery, and driving continuous improvement across products and processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce assembly and manufacturing drawings using GD&T and DFMA principles, with 3D CAD models in Solid Works and PDM
* Provide supporting calculations for new designs or significant modifications
* Produce purchased equipment specifications for ancillary equipment
* Create and maintain bills of materials (BOM) and part numbers in SAP
* Manage design changes through the ECN (Engineering Change Notice) process
* Issue technical reports on pre-used parts and machines, recommending repair, re-use or replacement
* Respond directly to customer queries on technical and engineering issues
* Determine work content and establish costs for component refurbishment
* Provide technical support to the Customer Service commercial team and service stations, including occasional site visits
* Attend technical/kick-off meetings and inspections, including FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing)
* Support production and quality teams during assembly, manufacturing and defect reviews
What We're Looking For
* 3–5 years' experience in an engineering role, ideally within Service, Repairs or Refurbishment
* Bachelor's Degree, HND, OND or ONC in Mechanical Engineering
* Strong working knowledge of GD&T and DFMA
* Proficient in 3D CAD modelling (Solid Works) and producing 2D manufacturing drawings
* Good understanding of capital equipment machinery design and manufacturing processes
* Some knowledge of hydraulics design and troubleshooting is beneficial
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
* Excellent communication skills, with confidence liaising across departments and directly with customers
* Flexible approach, able to manage multiple tasks and respond to changing business needs
