Role Overview
Sitting in the corporate policy team, the role is central to ensuring Rochdale Council delivers its ambitious response to the climate emergency and building a more sustainable future for the council, our residents and our borough.
The role involves providing high quality advice and guidance to senior leaders on climate change and sustainability, developing policy to direct our decisions and formulating strategy to continue our journey.
The role also includes leading on sustainability and low carbon programmes and projects to ensure that the Council is a greener organisation, a place leader for a greener borough, and meeting the carbon neutrality ambition by 2038., The Climate Change and Sustainability Project Manager sits in our busy and well-regarded Corporate Policy service.
The service is small with an excellent track record of delivering projects that support Council's ambitions and priorities.
The post-holder will work closely with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), government and a range of external partners to deliver the ambition of carbon neutrality by 2038

QualificationsRochdale Council is seeking an experienced, dedicated and passionate officer to build on the excellent work we have done so far and ensure Rochdale continues to lead the way in delivering solutions for our residents and the borough that mitigate the effects of climate change and adapt to the impacts we already face., You will need to have excellent understanding of the issues and challenges around climate change and sustainability.
You will need in depth knowledge of climate change policy on a national, regional and local level.
You will have excellent partnership working skills and be able to influence and guide senior leaders.
You will also have strong project management skills and experience of delivering major projects.
Being passionate about tackling the climate emergency is also a must.
