Rochdale Council is seeking an experienced, dedicated and passionate officer to build on the excellent work we have done so far and ensure Rochdale continues to lead the way in delivering solutions for our residents and the borough that mitigate the effects of climate change and adapt to the impacts we already face.

About the role

Sitting in the corporate policy team, the role is central to ensuring Rochdale Council delivers its ambitious response to the climate emergency and building a more sustainable future for the council, our residents and our borough.

The role involves providing high quality advice and guidance to senior leaders on climate change and sustainability, developing policy to direct our decisions and formulating strategy to continue our journey.

The role also includes leading on sustainability and low carbon programmes and projects to ensure that the Council is a greener organisation, a place leader for a greener borough, and meeting the carbon neutrality ambition by 2038.

About you

You will need in depth knowledge of climate change policy on a national, regional and local level.

You will have excellent partnership working skills and be able to influence and guide senior leaders.
