Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer

Location:

Lancashire
Salary: £38,500 – £41,500

Hours:

Predominantly Days with an Early Finish Every Friday
Working Hours
Three weeks out of every four:
Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 3:30pm
Friday: 7:00am – 3:00pm
Every fourth week:
Monday to Thursday: 12:00pm – 8:30pm
Friday: 12:00pm – 8:00pm

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team, working closely with Production, Process Engineering and Quality to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime and support manufacturing performance.

The Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer Role
As the Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer, you will provide reactive and planned maintenance support across a busy plastics manufacturing operation.
Your responsibilities will include:

* Diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control-system faults.

* Responding efficiently to machinery breakdowns and minimising lost production.

* Completing planned preventative maintenance activities.

* Investigating recurring failures and implementing effective corrective actions.

* Supporting injection and blow-moulding machinery, ancillary equipment and site services.

* Assisting with machine setup and recommissioning following mould changes.

* Establishing effective machine settings and helping standardise production processes.

* Training and supporting operators and setters in machine setup and basic fault identification.

* Identifying opportunities to improve machinery reliability, efficiency and output.

* Supporting continuous-improvement projects focused on downtime, waste, cycle times and OEE.

* Contributing to root-cause analysis and engineering improvement activities.

* Maintaining accurate maintenance records and communicating outstanding issues.

* Supporting compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.

* Promoting good housekeeping, 5S principles and a positive health-and-safety culture.
Some short-term flexibility may occasionally be required to support production and wider business needs.
Your Experience
To be considered for this position, you should have:

* At least five years’ maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.

* Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability.

* A genuinely multiskilled or mechatronic engineering background.

* Working knowledge of PLC-controlled machinery and industrial control systems.

* Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment.

* The ability to diagnose technical problems methodically and remain calm under pressure.

* Experience working alongside Production, Process Engineering and Quality teams.

* Knowledge of planned maintenance, breakdown reduction and continuous improvement.

* Good communication skills and the ability to train and support production colleagues.

* A flexible, approachable and team-focused attitude.

* Excellent attention to detail and strong engineering standards.

Experience with in an injection moulding or blow moulding environment would be highly advantageous.
A 17th or 18th Edition electrical qualification would be beneficial but is not essential.
Desirable Machinery Experience

Experience with any of the following machinery would be a distinct advantage:

Krauss Maffei
Negri…
