PositionSummary
The Certified Medical Assistant will have both administrative and clinical responsibilities. These responsibilities include greeting patients and scheduling appointments, obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for their appointment and documenting appropriately in the electronic medical record.
Education- Must have high school diploma / GED.
- Must have completed an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
- Must be currently certified in the state of Illinois.
- Minimum of 2 years medical office experience preferred.
- Working knowledge and use of computer applications.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills required.
- Willingness to work as part of the team is a must.
- Independent decision maker who needs minimal assistance.
- CPR certified.
- BLS certified.
- The ideal candidate must be able to work and complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Stand or sit for extended periods of time; push, pull and reach; occasional bending, sitting, stooping and stretching.
- Have full range of body motion and ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate a keyboard, telephone, fax machine or other equipment as needed.
- Have normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports; specific vision requirements including close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
- The work of this position is performed in an environmentally-controlled office environment.
- The position requires the ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public on a regular basis.
- The position may cause frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations, cleaning fluids and other conditions common to the healthcare environment.
- Constant kneeling, stooping, bending, twisting and occasional need to lift patients.
- Medium Lifting, generally lifting not more than 50 lbs. maximum with assistance, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Maintain BLS/CPR Certifications.
- Complete annual Employee Health / Training requirements.
- Complete annual CEU requirements per certifying organization to maintain MA certification.
