About

The Role

Maintenance Technician at Zekelman Industries ensures the safe repair, rebuild, and maintenance of tube mill production equipment to maximize equipment quality, uptime, rate, and yield. It requires strong electrical aptitude, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to identify and resolve both electrical and mechanical issues. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates a high level of attention to detail, and consistently adheres to safety standards while contributing to production reliability and efficiency.

What

You’ll Do
  • Performs electrical and mechanical maintenance on production equipment in compliance with all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  • Ensures all guards and safety devices are in place and functional before returning equipment to service.
  • Monitors inventory of parts, equipment, and supplies; places and verifies orders as needed.
  • Utilizes manual and computerized maintenance management systems to track, inspect, and report equipment status.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, manuals, and schematics to diagnose and repair machinery.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves electrical, mechanical, and quality issues, escalating complex concerns as needed.
  • Conducts breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance, and changeover activities to sustain operational efficiency.
  • Identifies and reports safety, quality, or operational issues outside of immediate control.
  • Operates powered industrial trucks, overhead cranes, and portable cranes safely.
  • Fabricates repair parts using machine shop tools and precision equipment.
  • Supports continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives to enhance performance.
  • Complies with OSHA safety standards and maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.
  • Apprenticeship, journeyman, military service, or equivalent technical training preferred.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with electrical systems and PLCs.
  • Effective communication skills in English and the ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, safety-oriented environment.
  • Team player with strong collaboration skills and a commitment to operational success.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $30.50 per hour + Production Incentive

Additional benefits include a high-quality medical and dental plan, a tuition assistance program, a bonus plan, and a 401(k) plan with a generous company match with immediate vesting.
