The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Oakland University invites applications for a part-time, non-tenure-track position in Spanish, effective August 2025.

Applicants must be committed to undergraduate education and demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching undergraduates. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include teaching 1 course per semester within the department’s Spanish program. The department is central to the University’s curriculum and mission, and it prides itself on its collegiality and cross-disciplinary research.

Experience designing and teaching court and medical interpreting workshops valued.

This posting is to create a pool of interested applicants from which the Department may draw as sections become open at any point in the 2025‑2026 academic year. This posting may or may not result in the hiring. Pre‑employment screening includes verification of academic credentials and background check.

• Applicants are required to possess native or near‑native fluency in Spanish.
• A degree or training in Translation and Interpretation or equivalent professional certification is required.
• Demonstrated professional experience as a translator and interpreter in court, health care, or other professional settings is expected.
• A master’s degree in Spanish or a closely related field is required for appointment at the rank of lecturer.
