Accountable to develop cost-effective products that meet customer specifications.

This position has no direct supervision requirements. The position is part of an engineering product development team.

Required is a bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical engineering preferred, and greater than three years of experience in powertrain controls. The candidate must be able to define problems, design effective tests, analyze data and draw valid conclusions. The candidate must have experience with product design and development processes such as DFMEAs, design reviews and DV plans. This position requires good interpersonal skills to work with the internal team and the customer.

• Assists the lead engineer in developing the product specification, including DVP&R.
• Ensure proper equipment and test definition is available to execute the DVP&R.
• Perform data and part analysis and accurate reporting of tests.
• Design and development methods must demonstrate that mechanical, electrical, magnetic, and hydraulic physics are understood and modeled for the product design.
• Plan and Execute Design of Experiments (DOE) as necessary to support root-cause analysis.
• Actively participates in DFMEAs.
• Participates in design reviews to insure accurate tolerance stacks are prepared both for dimensional and geometric tolerances, that appropriate modeling has been performed with acceptable results, lessons learned are reviewed and design guidelines are used.
• Works with the team to ensure that the product design meets the cost target.
• Works with the testing group to insure the proper execution of the DVP&R.
• Works effectively with team to execute the engineering deliverables for (HIPE) APQP process.
