Project Engineer, Mechanical Engineer

Under minimal supervision, works on robotic or tooling systems involve the origination, design, and development of new robotic products, tools, and components, as well as the modification and improvement of existing designs. Will have a mechanical engineering focus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Additional duties may be assigned.

• Must be able to perform advanced mechanical and/or electrical calculations to verify the overall outcome of the design requirement/intent.
• Must be proficient in AutoCAD and Solid Works.
• Must have working knowledge of PDM systems.
• Attend project kickoff meetings and provide input.
• Communicate directly with the customer on technical issues.
• May be responsible for assisting with generating and managing the Project Binder and project schedules, managing the project budget, and leading the engineering team.
• Will be assigned to several projects at one time.
• Travel is required frequently. Must have a valid driver’s license and full-coverage automobile insurance.
• Must follow ISO procedures as required and provide feedback to improve our processes.
• May initiate milestone invoicing at appropriate intervals.
• Able to understand and apply industry standards for hazardous environments.
• Designs and develops robotic systems and tooling fixtures to meet customer specifications or project requirements.
• Conduct (develop) tests to ensure success during project validation or verification.
• Facilitate design reviews with customers, suppliers, and/or other departments to ensure sound designs and drawing accuracy.
• Analyze test data to verify that the design meets functional and performance specifications.
• Coordinate and assist in solving technical problems during debugging and at the customer site.
• Provide technical support and leadership to customers, engineering team, customer service, sales, marketing, manufacturing, etc.
• May assist in preparation of technical proposals with Application Engineer and/or Marketing.
• Has a strong understanding of systems. Must possess a strong understanding of paint and dispense automated processes, along with the application of those processes
• Must be proficient in reading and designing Pneumatic and fluid schematics.
• May be responsible for generating standard solutions for use by all Yaskawa Motoman in engineering applications.
• May be responsible for overall engineering solution.
• May be responsible for assisting with closed order analysis on assigned projects.
• Communicate project status with team members.
• May assist in preparing and presenting engineering change documentation.
• Directly responsible for generating AG revenue (revenue may be adjusted based upon company goals and market conditions).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Science degree with one year of related experience, or four or more years of related experience.

Good organizational skills, problem-solving ability, strong verbal and written communication skills, and computer literacy. Must have strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
