Overview

At Ulta Beauty, the Stylist plays an essential role in delivering high‑quality beauty services while fostering an engaging, inclusive customer experience.

The Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. The position supports the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through performance (sales and productivity), guest service, and process compliance.

• Perform hair services including design, cuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed an average weekly sales goal of $800 and productivity goals for hair services, contributing to store retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink targets.
• Demonstrate business acumen by identifying opportunities for growth.
• Conduct product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
• Support in‑store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives that deliver an unrivaled guest experience.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services and communicate their benefits to guests.
• Maintain punctual, regular attendance.

• Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail/service recommendations.
• Demonstrate high standards of customer service and salon image.
• Serve all guests, including walk‑in guests, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a total‑store, well‑rounded guest experience.
• Establish professional peer and brand partner relationships that foster collaborative guest service excellence.
• Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings to enable continuous professional development.

• Understand and adhere to Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures, complying with state board guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols to ensure consistency and excellence.
• Utilize booking and client management systems to schedule return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the EM to maintain guest readiness.
• Maintain store operational standards, including cleanliness of salon, sales floor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and additional assigned areas.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code.
• Protect company assets by applying loss‑prevention best practices while maintaining guest service.
• Execute other operational tasks as directed.

• Cosmetology license.

• Previous relevant salon experience preferred.

• Proficiency with current salon techniques across all service categories.
• Skill in using equipment and chemicals required for technical work.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and a clientele base.

• Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Frequent mobility during shift.
• Continuous lifting or moving up to 10 lbs.
• Frequent stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, twisting, and crouching.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Continuous and/or frequent coordination and manipulation of objects.
