The South Thames Gateway Building Control Partnership is a Local Authority partnership combining the building control services of four Local Authorities (LA) within Kent. This combined skills and talent has created a forward thinking, progressive building control team.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated team player who is willing to commit to a career in Local Authority Building Control and undertake a varied range of technical tasks. You will be part of a team that delivers the building control services for Canterbury, Gravesham, Medway, and Swale councils and required to work across any of these areas.

Our Assistant Building Control Surveyors will undertake a training programme which is partly based in the office on site working and learning alongside experienced surveyors. • Supporting the operations team to gain a comprehensive understanding of the building control process.
• Working with experienced surveyors and supporting them with all building control activities including plans checking and site inspection work.
• Actively managing your own career development to work towards qualification.
• Throughout your training you’ll earn a competitive salary and on completion you’ll have the skills, qualifications and experience required to become a Registered Building Inspector as well as the opportunity to progress to become a fully qualified Chartered Surveyor or Building Engineer.

Please note – This role will require regular travel to sites. Therefore, you will need a full driving licence.

Career Progression Frameworks (CPF) have been introduced for all roles at Medway Council. These frameworks provide a mechanism for employees to take ownership of their development within their post and be rewarded accordingly. The salary you will be offered will be at level

A. There will be further opportunity once in post to progress from level A to B, and B to

C.
