Position: Teaching Assistant with BSL
Location: Borstal
Teacher Active are proud to be supporting a specialist BSL (British Sign Language) unit within a mainstream primary setting in the Medway area. We are seeking a committed, enthusiastic, and skilled Teaching Assistant with BSL proficiency to join a dedicated team providing high-quality support to deaf and hearing-impaired pupils.

The Role as a Teaching Assistant with BSL

Supporting pupils who use British Sign Language as their primary method of communication

Assisting the class teacher with planning, resources, and classroom activities

Providing 1:1 and small-group support

Ensuring pupils can access learning and communicate effectively

Helping to create a positive, inclusive environment

As a Teaching Assistant with BSL You Will Need

BSL Level 2 or above (essential)

Experience working with children or young people

A caring, patient, and proactive approach

Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team

A genuine passion for supporting children with additional communication needs
