PE Teacher

Overview

The Governing Board is seeking an enthusiastic and well-qualified teacher of Physical Education to join the Physical Education Department from April 2026.

St. John Fisher Catholic Comprehensive School is a non-selective coeducational secondary school for students age 11-18. The school is in Medway, a 30‑minute distance from London by road or high‑speed rail link. Medway benefits from a multimillion‑pound regeneration programme bringing new housing developments and facilities for its inhabitants; it also has the lowest council tax rates in Kent. St. John Fisher also offers subsidised accommodation for employees and this will be offered to the successful candidate, should they be interested.

The successful candidate will model at least good teaching practice and will be able to engage and inspire students of all abilities both in and out of lessons. Within the PE Department, this will also include leading after school fixtures in several different sports, as well as a wide variety of different after‑school sports clubs.

Teaching responsibilities:

• PE lessons in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, plus mixed classes (boys & girls) in Key Stage 4.
• AQA GCSE PE classes, for both theory and practical lessons.

Leadership responsibilities:

• Leading after‑school fixtures in several sports.
• Developing competitive sport within the department, with a particular focus on expanding football and netball opportunities for girls.

Enthusiastic and suitably qualified teacher of Physical Education, keen to play a proactive, collaborative role in developing the department further in the school.

Minimum requirements:

• Qualified teacher of Physical Education.
• Experience of teaching AQA GCSE PE.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and commitment to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults.
