About The Role
Maritime Academy is seeking a SENCo to join the Leadership Team at our state‑of‑the‑art academy.
The role involves shaping and delivering SEND provision and ensuring every child can reach their full potential. The candidate will hold (or be willing to obtain) the National Award for SEN Coordination and have a strong understanding of SEND legislation and best practice.
Responsibilities- Determine and lead the strategic development of our SEND policy and provision, ensuring that it meets the diverse needs of our students.
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team and staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for students with SEND.
- Take responsibility for the day‑to‑day operation of the SEND policy, coordinating tailored support for individual students with special educational needs or disabilities.
- Provide professional guidance to colleagues, and work closely with staff, parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to SEND support.
- Ensure full compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and deliver the highest standards of SEND provision.
- Act as the Designated Teacher for Children in Care and former Children in Care, ensuring their educational needs are met and their progress is tracked.
Qualified teacher with a passion for supporting students with SEND, strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, carers, and external professionals.
