Role Description The English Teacher will deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned English lessons to learners preparing for key exams and wider academic goals. This contract, on-site role is based in Rochester and involves planning and delivering lessons, assessing student progress, and providing constructive feedback to support individual learning needs. The teacher will work closely with students, families, and the Myrtle Learning team to create inclusive, supportive classroom environments that promote confidence, literacy skills, and independent learning.

Daily responsibilities include adapting teaching materials, differentiating instruction for diverse abilities and SEND needs, maintaining accurate records of student progress, and contributing to the wider learning community. The role may also involve small-group tuition, exam preparation sessions, and participation in mentoring or study skills activities as required.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong English Teaching and Teaching skills, with experience supporting learners across different age groups and abilities.
  • Candidates should possess Lesson Planning and Education skills, including the ability to design differentiated, curriculum-aligned lessons and assess learning outcomes.
  • Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues and provide clear, constructive feedback.
  • Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., degree in English or Education, PGCE, QTS or equivalent) is highly beneficial.
  • Experience working with exam-focused curricula (11 Plus, GCSE, A Level) and supporting students with SEND or additional learning needs is an advantage.
  • Strong classroom management abilities, commitment to safeguarding, and a learner-centered approach to teaching are essential.
  • Ability to collaborate with schools and education partners, and willingness to contribute to a supportive, inclusive learning community.
