AboutThe Role
We are recruiting a Process Technician Electrical for our Water Supply Team. In this frontline role you will maintain and repair water supply works, reservoirs and booster stations, ensuring all environmental, quality and customer service standards are met while complying with H&S legislation and meeting budgetary targets. Your experience will help us remain compliant, reduce pollution and keep our sites operational, and you will have the opportunity to innovate and implement continuous improvements.
WhatYou Will Be Responsible For
- Undertake reactive and planned maintenance of plant and equipment on a daily basis.
- Coach, train and develop staff, including apprentices, where required.
- Install new plant and equipment as required.
- Provide technical expertise to internal and external contractors.
- Manage projects internally and provide technical expertise to contractors working for Southern Water.
- Respond to alarms and fault‑find to identify issues, fix them or escalated as required.
- Carry out inspection and testing on electrical equipment following company procedures.
- Obtain quotations for parts, equipment or contractor work.
- Prepare self‑quotations for work and compare against contractor prices.
- Update necessary company systems and databases accurately and promptly.
- Identify possible future risks, recommend changes and raise them for resolution.
- Stay up to date with new technology and approaches to service existing plant/equipment and pursue opportunities for improvement.
The role requires commitment to a 1 in 6 standby roster, attracting additional payments and overtime (subject to availability) which may increase your potential earnings to up to £10,000 per year in addition to your base pay.
Essential- BTEC NVQ Level 3 qualified with certificates to support your qualification – Electrical.
- BTEC ONC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience in the water industry.
- Strong understanding of pumping station operation and wastewater treatment processes.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
