The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team, based in the Rochester office. This role is ideal for someone looking to further develop their commercial and contractual expertise while working within a supportive yet ambitious business.
Key Responsibilities
You will support the commercial team in delivering sustainable and profitable growth by minimising risks, maximising opportunities, and helping to avoid disputes.
General
Perform commercial functions as directed by the Commercial Manager, MQS, Senior QS or QS
Ensure compliance with internal governance and company procedures
Work within defined budgets and understand the cost or value impact of tasks performed
Assist the work-winning team where required
Actively develop commercial knowledge, skills, and capability
Cost Management
Assist with the preparation of accurate and prudent cost and value analysis
Support budget preparation in conjunction with your line manager
Carry out site measurement
Work closely with site teams to identify cost reduction and cost management opportunities
Maintain high-quality, accurate commercial records in line with company procedures
Maintain cost information and commercial data
Value Management
Assist in developing and maintaining a robust change control process
Support the accurate pricing and assessment of variations
Assist with the preparation and agreement of interim and final subcontract accounts
Prepare interim and final account measurements
Prepare and agree sundry accounts as required
Essential Experience
Previous experience working with NEC3 or NEC4 contracts
Desirable Experience
Experience working within the water sector
