An opportunity has arisen for capable individuals with an eye for detail to join our Production team in the role of Fruit Packer. The purpose of this role is to support with the sorting, inspecting and packing of our fresh fruit products in readiness for them to be dispatched to our retail customers.
Responsibilities- Sorting, inspecting and packing our fresh fruit products as per our customer specifications.
- Paying extra attention to the variety, size, colour and quality of our products; ensuring any fruit that is defective or doesn’t meet our excellent standards is removed.
- Learning the various methods of packing as per the production line requirements and ensuring the correct packaging is used.
- Applying produce labels where applicable (such as during promotion periods)
- Producing and printing of labels and associated products within specification
- Maintaining a ‘clean as you go procedure’ and adopting excellent food hygiene standards
- Ensuring you adhere to the company’s health and safety standards
- Carrying out repetitive manual handling tasks
- Supporting new team members as and when required
- Previous experience of working in a role where attention to detail is key
- Understanding of and adherence to health and safety protocols and food hygiene standards
- An excellent eye for detail
- A basic level of English (B1) with the ability to follow verbal and visual instructions
- Respect for others and values diversity; happy to listen and work as part of a team
- A can‑do attitude with a flexible and dynamic approach
- The ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines/meet set targets
- Comfortable with a physical role where manual handling is a frequent requirement
Our packing facility operates 7 days per week, with a rota system in place over 5 days. Our Fruit Packers tend to work an average of 45 hours per week. We do tend to work long hours but we reflect this in our competitive pay structure. As a result, this role would only be suited to candidates who are able to be flexible.
RateOf Pay
- £12.21 for the first 40 hours
- £15.26 after 45 hours
- 28 days holiday including bank holidays (with an opportunity to earn more holiday based on your length of service)
