Are you a compassionate and motivated Nursing Associate with experience supporting patients with bladder, bowel, or pelvic floor dysfunction? Do you want to improve patients  quality of life through specialist continence care while promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Nursing Associate to join our friendly Specialist Bladder and Bowel Service across Medway.

Working alongside specialist nurses and multidisciplinary colleagues, you will support adults experiencing bladder and bowell dysfunction in community clinics, care homes, and patients  own homes. You will contribute to the assessment, treatment, education, and ongoing management of patients, delivering person-centred, evidence-based care within your scope of practice.

The role includes supporting continence promotion, reinforcing individualised treatment plans, assisting with catheter care and management, contributing to catheter clinics, and undertaking catheter changes where trained and competent. You will also help promote best practice in catheter care across community services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and proactive NMC-registered Nursing Associate (or someone with equivalent experience) who has excellent communication skills, enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team, and is committed to developing their knowledge in continence care while helping shape and enhance bladder and bowel services across Medway.

To support the delivery of specialist community assessment, treatment, advice, and care for adults with bladder, bowel, and pelvic floor dysfunction.

To manage a delegated caseload under the supervision of Bladder and Bowel Specialist Nurses, delivering care in line with agreed treatment plans and evaluating outcomes within own scope of practice.

To undertake face-to-face and telephone reviews, gather clinical information, monitor progress, and escalate concerns or complex cases appropriately.

To support specialist urinary catheter services, including catheter care, catheter changes (following competency assessment), catheter clinics, and providing advice within own competence.

To contribute to continence assessments and the provision and review of appropriate continence products in line with local and national guidance.

To promote bladder and bowel health through education, lifestyle advice, and self-management support, helping patients maximise independence and quality of life.

To participate in audit, quality improvement, safeguarding, risk management, and infection prevention and control activities.

To prioritise and manage delegated workload, recognise the limits of own competence, and seek guidance when required.

To work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, providing coordinated, person-centred care, while supporting patients, carers, care home staff, and healthcare professionals through education and maintaining accurate electronic patient records.

The small print

• The postholder we be required to work 5 shifts per week Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays) with Saturday working required routinely 1 in 6 weekends.
• We are honouring the 2018 contract refresh of the NHS Terms and Conditions of Service (Agenda for Change) pay award.
• We will offer you the choice of two pension schemes; the NHS Pension scheme and our Scottish Widows group personal pension.
• MCH is merging with Kent Community Health Foundation Trust (KCHFT). The proposed transfer date is 30th September 2026 and this role will be subject to TUPE transfer to KCHFT.
