Job Purpose:
* Responsible for transporting stock between sites and delivering our products to our customers using our delivery vehicles safely and efficiently. Making sure that the vehicle is loaded correctly and that we meet road transport and traffic legislation standards.
* In addition to the deliveries, the driver will be required to pick and receive stock, complete checks, and paperwork for the loads and to undertake manual handling.
Responsibilities:
* Complete checks and paperwork for the loads in line with BRC Requirements.
* Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any issues back to the transport controller.
* Send emails and scan and photocopy paperwork as required.
* Attend essential training in order to carry out the driver role.
* Complete multi-drop deliveries between our sites and to external customers in surrounding areas off-site, such as Sittingbourne, Essex and other areas as required in a timely and safe manner.
* Supervise the loading of the vehicle so that products are safely loaded and secured.
* Liaise with Transport Controller and Loader to ensure load is as per the customer requirements.
* Transport goods directly to customer sites, prioritising safety and consistent observance of road traffic rules.
* Ensure that on arrival at the delivery point the delivery is safe to make and respect customer’s property; if in doubt, consult with customer and/or Transport Controller.
* Check goods of with Customer and obtain signature and print.
* Deal with any customer issues in a professional manner at point of delivery and contact Transport Controller for assistance if required.
* Drive the vehicle responsibly and in accordance with transport law and regulations.
* Ensure the daily completion of driver vehicle checks and associated paperwork.
* Ensure driving hours are compliant with tachograph law and driving hours limits.
* Maintain vehicle and cab cleanliness and ensure vehicle is not subject to unnecessary damage.
* Report any accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with the company’s accident reporting procedure.
* Adhere to all company policies and procedures, to include the Company Standards of Performance and Health and Safety Policy.
* Carry out any other reasonable duties associated with the role or projects assigned to meet the overall objectives of the role.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
* Experience in the safe strapping and securing of loads.
* Computer skills experience.
* Previous experience of working in a food manufacturing environment or similar.
* Knowledge and experience of driving with Digi tachograph.
* Hold a certificate of Drivers Competence Certificate (CPC).
* Possess a clean full class 2 licence for a minimum of 2 years.
* Current Reach Truck Forklift Truck Licence
