Job Description

TLP Recruitment is looking for a Transport Planner. You will be responsible for managing the day‑to‑day operations of the transport team. This role requires close coordination with various departments, including Warehouse and Sales, to ensure accurate order fulfillment and customer satisfaction. The Transport Supervisor will also manage driver schedules, vehicle maintenance, and ensure compliance with all transport regulations.

This role will be working 11am to 9pm Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and optimise delivery routes and driver schedules using Podfather for efficiency and cost control.
  • Oversee daily transport operations to ensure timely deliveries and customer satisfaction.
  • Supervise and support the team of drivers, providing guidance and addressing any performance issues.
  • Deliver regular training on company policies, health & safety, and transport regulations.
  • Ensure that all drivers and vehicles comply with relevant laws and regulations, including DVSA standards, Health & Safety protocols, and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and vehicle inspections, and maintain accurate records for compliance, including driver hours, vehicle maintenance, Telematics reporting and incident reporting.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including suppliers and maintenance service providers.
  • Support inventory accuracy by overseeing proper loading and unloading of products.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance delivery times, reduce costs, and increase overall operational efficiency.
Key Requirements
  • Proven experience in a transport supervisory role or similar, ideally within distribution or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of UK transport laws, regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Proficient in transport management systems, route planning software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or shift patterns as necessary.
