The e-Learning and Instructional Support (e-LIS) office is seeking four undergraduate students to join our Instructional Design team as Instructional Design Assistants. These positions do not require prior instructional design experience, as we provide training. To qualify, applicants must be full-time undergraduate students at Oakland University.

These roles are ideal for students interested in developing skills in ADA compliance, digital accessibility, project management, instructional design, and technical skills. Work involves supporting faculty and instructors, enhancing teaching and learning, and gaining experience with instructional design and higher education practices. Many of the skills you will develop are broadly applicable to a variety of professional settings, and students from all majors are encouraged to apply!

Please note:

these positions involve editing online course pages, files, and videos for ADA compliance, as well as basic software troubleshooting.

Selected candidates will:
  • Assist the e-LIS Instructional Design team in creating and remediating online instructional materials (such as Moodle course pages, files, and videos) for ADA compliance.
  • Perform additional instructional design tasks such as quiz building, course setup, and creating interactive learning modules.
  • Participate in project tracking and completion of accessible courses and materials.
  • Research and test emerging educational technologies and software updates relevant to the programs we support.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to quickly and independently learn new software programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively on projects and meeting established deadlines.
  • Customer service experience and/or familiarity with online learning environments like Moodle (as a student or teacher) is helpful.
