You will support the Pharmacy Manager and be accountable for managing and overseeing all aspects within your pharmacy.

Responsibilities
  • Living our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
  • Taking direction from the Pharmacy Manager and overseeing the pharmacy as their proxy during bench shifts without overlap, strengthening pharmacy performance measures through effective coaching and consistent follow‑up of pharmacy team members.
  • Assuming the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following—and directing the pharmacy team to follow—pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing the safety guardrails at every workstation.
  • Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the pharmacy team to do the same, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues.
  • Proactively offering and delivering immunizations and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
  • Managing pharmacy inventory and protecting cold chain products for patients and the business.
  • Ensuring pharmacy operations are compliant with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues as needed.
  • Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs, supporting the Pharmacy Manager by writing the pharmacy schedule if directed.
  • Maintaining relevant clinical and technical skills through required trainings and CMEs, and seeking new knowledge to support patients.
  • Supporting access to care and improving patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible.
  • Understanding and complying with all federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles, as well as CVS Health policies and procedures to protect patient safety and privacy.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
Essential Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Attention and Focus
    • Ability to concentrate on a task over time, pivot quickly, and confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
  • Customer Service and Team Orientation
    • Look for ways to help people in a friendly manner and respond appropriately to patient reactions.
  • Communication Skills
    • Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues.
    • Practice active listening, give full attention, ask questions, and avoid interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Mathematical Reasoning
    • Use math to solve dosing and inventory problems, e.g., calculating total tablets and day’s supply.
  • Issue Resolution
    • Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.
  • Physical Demands
    • Remain mobile and upright for extended periods, lift, scan, bag items, reach overhead, use fingers, move between low and high positions, maintain visual acuity, and lift up to 20 lbs as needed.
  • Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager
