Position Overview
Outreach Program Coordinator – Oakland University
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Must have knowledge and have previous experience working with autistic individuals.
- Positive attitude towards autistic individuals of all ages and all levels.
- Ability to work independently and maintain consistent communication with a team.
- A broad understanding of barriers placed on the disability community.
- Demonstrated ability to set goals, facilitate, manage and assess programs.
- Must be a team player that is flexible when needed.
- A sense of urgency to complete tasks in a timely manner, with excellent management and problem solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Dependable, detail oriented and organized with strong communications skills.
- Willing to work evenings and weekends to meet programming needs.
- Demonstrated Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint – advanced knowledge and skill level in Excel and PowerPoint preferred.
- Master’s degree in special education, communications, human services, or related field desired but not required.
- At least 2 years’ experience managing programs for the disability community.
- Ability to identify gaps in operations and develop processes to fill gaps.
- Experience developing and maintaining community relationships to help meet the needs of the disability community.
To assist in the planning, promoting and implementation of OUCARES outreach programs and special events that will take place at Oakland University as well as off campus locations. Assess the programming needs of individuals facing multiple barriers within the autism community such as racial and economic disadvantages. Implement social and recreational programs and services designed to help meet the diverse needs of the community.
