• Bachelor’s Degree in special education, recreational therapy, human services or related field. Knowledge of sports and/or therapeutic coaching methods.
• Positive attitude and high energy with a genuine interest and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders.
• Ability to work independently and creatively with little direction from supervisor.
• Dependable and punctual.

• CPI training preferred.
• CPR / First aid training preferred.
• At least 2 years’ experience working with individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder or developmental disabilities preferred.

Lead an OUCARES sports or social skills program with the goal of improving the quality of life of participants with Autism and their families.

• The sports coach will be responsible for sports programs for OUCARES. Sports may include basketball, soccer, or bowling.
• Programs will be delivered in weekly sessions during Fall, Winter, & Spring with 1-2 hour class each week.
• Each class will enroll participants with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
• The focus of these programs is to create a therapeutic and social environment for the individuals with autism and not coaching the participants into conditioned athletes.
• The coach’s role is to continue to run and further develop the OUCARES sports programs in order to promote participants’ quality of life through exercise, socialization, and improved well-being.
• The coach will teach the participants to be active in learning sports while having fun in a safe and comfortable environment.
